Errrr, Monthly Update?

It has been an eternity since I've blogged, and there has been a multitude of incredibles and awesomenesses that have happened in this time, and why I haven't blogged about them... well, I just don't know. I've been too busy enjoying myself and my boys to blog, I guess.

I am now a PGY2 (post grad yr 2) rockin' radiologist! Holla! And aside from the large knot in my back from my uncanny ability to flex and hold only a few muscle fibers of my latissimus for hours on end while I click my way through CTs, I am (ouch) happy as a little lark. (Who knew there were radiology injuries?) I am learning about what every tiny minuscule in your body looks like on ultrasound and CT and MRI and fluoro and PET and etc and etc, and about every abnormality in your body and what THAT would look like on ultrasound and CT and MRI and fluoro and PET. And, while daunting... it is amazingly incredible. Currently, I'm elbow deep in sulci.

Enough about me.

SO MUCH has happened since we've last talked. My little brother is now married to a very cool lady, Kristy, who just so happens to make fabulously adorable little chicadees named Halle. You can see a few of their wedding pics taken by my dear and talented friend, Shannon, of A Moment Captured Photography. Just follow the first link to peek under Galleries.... {Josh & Kristy~I DO}. Here's one of her many perfect shots. If you know anyone who needs a wedding photographer, I cannot recommend her enough.

What else can I cram into one blog? Let's see, I turned 28 and my oldest boy turned 9 last month. (Entire blog on how dilapidated I feel at a later date). His birthday, no doubt, was jollier than mine since I dealt with the loss of our bulldog... alone... on my birthday (another story for another day). We had a visit from Clint & Casey and enjoyed a HOT day of golf. And by "golf" I mean Casey and I laughing our butts off from the golf cart at Lonnie and Clint playing in the 110 degree sun.

We've enjoyed countless good times with good friends. One of our newest couple friends had Lonnie and me over for homemade Italian food.... thanks Gina and Susan! We enjoyed some grown up time downtown with friends, celebrating the end of the intern year. We've met more friends from the neighborhood and had cookouts out the wazoo. LOVE the summer for this reason!

All of my boys have been enjoying the summer with sleeping in until noon (I kid you not) and never ending pool time. At times, it looks as though we're bringing up three little raisins.

A few pics from my parents' over 4th of July/Josh's wedding weekend

Happy Summer, everyone!

Pssst....

...these peeps are at the gyms here in Texas, too. Who knew.

(Oh, and the getting in shape before med school graduation because it's "all downhill" after residency starts prediction I made back in February of last year. Spot. On. )

Dangit.

Poolio

We spent part of the day relaxing at the new water park here in town.

Lazing in the lazy river:

Lazy River trying to claim its first victim, Avery

Giggler giggling...

...and chomping apples while his brothers conquered the big slides in the background

Emblem of an intern year

This month of Vascular Surgery is filled with long hours of pure nothingness. I start early and end late, but the middle is empty. During the day, I read, eat, and relax... quite a nice change from Trauma Surgery. Today I lounged in one of the call rooms to read up on some neuroanatomy (since, per my schedule, I get to embarrass myself on CT Neuro my first official month of Radiology in July; yeah, I haven't thought about brain structures since my first year of med school when I held a squishy, cold brain in my hands). All ye who accepted me into your program, get ready for disappointment!

I looked down and chuckled. These tattered intern socks have been through codes, rounds, and calls and pretty much sum up how I feel after this year. Tired. Worn. Frazzled.

Just 20 days to my freedom, though! 20 days til the end of Medicine Wards (that I DIDN'T want to do) and Trauma Surgery (that I NEVER signed up for) and Endocrine and Cardiology and Pulmonary and Vascular Surgery and Neurology and VA ICU and any other irrelevant -ology. *Deep sigh.*

Here's to the completion of my intern year. One year down, four to go! Woo hoo!

His love transforms me

After circling the hospital parking lot to snap a shot of (a downgraded) Bumblebee! for Brady on my phone, I sent it to him... and got a text back, "Thanks mom that's cool love you."

Heart. Bounding.

Seriously, what more could I want?

Wee Graduate

Peyton partook of his first Pomp and Circumstance this past weekend. Sigh. Kindergarten here we come, whether Mom likes it or not. I hope this is the first of five graduations for this fella and he someday becomes a doc. Fruition this dream will likely never see, though, because he informed us he "hates bwud and duts and seeing live hearts."

Young grad walking next to my dear med school friend, the pediatrician in training, Elizabeth :)

Hands off, little one. He's still mine for 13 more years.

Memaw's eyes matched Peyt's cap and gown, as did mine.

Avery is excited about the punch, not his brother's accomplishment, I assure you.
