I find life amusing. I enjoy laughing, being funny, making light of situations, poking fun, etc. I appreciate quirky. I know we are all made in God's liking, and I believe whole heartedly that He has a sense of humor. If you disagree, just take a look in the mirror. If it's my mirror, you'll discover God apparently thinks hail damage and hangy skin in the nether-regions is hilarious.
Nonetheless, I love the way life's situations evolve: what seems like failure becomes success, what feels like torment blossoms into pleasure, stress into growth. There was frankly nothing funny about standing in the mall restroom alone as an 18 year old staring dumbfounded at a stick that mocked me with my impending (WHAT?!?) motherhood. (Stroke). (Wake up.) (Faint). (Wake up.) (Cry). (Wake up). (Double stroke).
But now, I can see clearly what my teenage-fogged glasses couldn't grasp, "God's grace is sufficient."
He has seen us through time. And time. Again.
We struggle. We make mistakes. I. Make. Mistakes. What I dirty, He cleans. And not only does He clean, He makes shiny and new. Everyday I thank God for His unending grace. Without it, where would any of us be?
While I'll never understand how He so beautifully and perfectly transforms things, situations, and circumstances, I'll thank Him anyway. Remember to say a short prayer for those families involved in the Fort Hood tragedy this week. It's just plain scary when something like this happens 20 minutes from our cozy homes.
